  • Arizona here I come...

    Going to Phoenix, Arizona!

Granted, not that that is terribly exciting to many of you but to me...?  Well, to me, travel is in my blood and I find much pleasure in boarding a plane for a new destination, albeit only for a few days (I get restless to get home pretty quickly).

Of late, I am grappling, deeply grappling with God's crazy? calling on my life.  I just CANT shake it.  You'd think He'd pick a....er....well....'sure bet.'  I would.  He didn't.  I guess He likes playing the 'long odds' and risking a lot on risky bets.

To be fair, I used to think I had God 'wired.'  I don't think that anymore.  The older I get (I'm now days away from 41) the less about Him I find I really, truly know (in a good way of course).  It's kinda like a little boy getting a simple ole' Swiss Army Knife for Christmas..

...at first blush, it's just a knife.  But, the older he gets, the more he discovers that the knife is REALLY 'The Knife' to have....

    • ....picks locks...
    • ...opens car doors and turns on ignitions...
    • ...accesses Pentagon computer systems...
    • ...contains the nuclear launch codes for all the weapons in the US arsenal...

    ...you know...THE KNIFE.

So...here I am...amazed at God and still, at the end of the day on my way to Arizona thinking to myself ...

"Who is like Him?  Who is He?  How can One be so kind and loving, compassionate and caring?"

That will give me plenty to think about soaring over California and Arizona....

  • Homosexuality or Gay?

Few modern theologians are making more of an impact that John Piper.  This pastor, teacher and deep theologian has some excellent insights on homosexuality that he states FAR better than I could.  Check out his site and type in the key word 'homosexuality' in the search box.  I think you'll be glad you did....

Furthermore, the issue of gay marriage across the nation is not going away.  As true followers of Christ, standing up for the truth...the truth that gay marriage is a lie and ought to be resisted....can take a toll even a strong man.  But check out this SECULAR conservative's viewpoint on the subject..it's that good!!!

It's worth the cost and incredibly insightful!!!

    All my best!!!

  • I'm a mess....

    I like that.  I'm a "mess."

But, as another said more wiser than I...

"I'm a mess who's been adopted by the God of the universe and He's REALLY fond of me."

I will say this for God...

    ...I don't really get Him.

Thought you might like a good read on a "messy" just like you....

  • Change...

    DSC_0751

Someone gave me an excellent piece of advice lately.  They said, quite simply,

"Change only happens when we change playgrounds and playmates"

Good advice if you ask me.

    • I guess we cant expect to deal with sexual purity if we insist on spending time who those who disregard it.
    • I suppose we can't expect to see ourselves as God sees us as long as we spend time with those who insist that we are "gay."
    • Can change happen while we regard the APA's stance on change higher than God's Word?
    • What does it say about us if we willingly distort God's stance against homosexual behavior so we come out "smelling like a rose?"
Great.  You've failed.  Screwed up.  Crashed and burned.

Okay... you didn't fall so much as you jumped head first into sin.

    Fine.
That's in the tomb of the past.

You don't have the past, you have today.
    As do I.

Do I have regrets?  Sure I do.  Many.

What good is gained by looking over my shoulder at the wreckage of my life?  Rather, I look forward to a Great Savior who's pretty talented when it comes to fixing wrecked lives.

Life is a one act play with no dress rehearsal.

Failure happens.  There are no rewrites or revisions.

I suppose we cannot afford to allow our failures to define us.  As some in the world are fond of saying, "shit happens."

    And so it does.

But it's time to get up again.

Failure needn't be fatal.  Falls don't define us...they refine us.

For all the criticisms I've received throughout the years, for all the bashing and armchair quarterbacking I am doing something that many of my critics are not....

    FALLING FORWARD

Remember, for every man who walks away from Jesus by embracing his homosexual behavior, there are many of us who have continued to stand with Christ and renounce the darkness that is found in all homosexual entanglements.

We are not perfect.  We are, however, determined to follow Christ through our failures.
We renounce our lusts, desires, and impulses and flee toward a Kingdom that will one day crush this world and all who stand against the King of Purity.

When we fall, we fall forward.
